Season Start on Easter

Defying the mostly awkward weather we spent a great week on Polaris. We hoped to get to France but did not find a suitable window of fair winds and weather so we had to abandon this plan. After a night on anchor at Studland Bay we rounded the Isle of Wight and returned to Haslar Marina where we weathered 3 days of strong winds and rain. Did some cleaning, pontoon bashing and maintenance work and visited Explosion! The Museum of Naval Firepower in Gosport. A walk dow memory lane for the former gunner I am…

Finally, the weather cleared up on Thursday and together with Tom and Clair from Moody Blue we had a nice and calm sail to our favourite place – Newtown River. This beautiful spot is usually fully occupied during the summer months but early in the season it is possible to find a spot, even for a larger boat such as Polaris.

The final leg back to Haslar was against F5-6 winds with a tide running against it. Quite a rocky ride under 2 reefs, but Polaris brought us back safely.

Winter Sailing To White Cliff Bay (Bembridge, Isle of Wight)

It‘s been a long time since our last blog… In the mean time we had some upgrades done to the boat by the amazing guys from Allspars Solent, did some great sailing on weekends including a nocturnal attempt to invade France with sailing mates Florian, Tobias, Chris, Nick and Tim…

Here are some impressions of our last short outing of the year 2017. No need for snowy mountains to have some sun, fun and great nature, my Swiss friends 😎.

We wish you all a Happy New Year and stay tuned

Summer Break Episode 5

After a great regatta week in Salcombe we set sail again back to Portsmouth via Dartmouth, Devon and Portland, Dorset. We made two 65mn passages across Lyme Bay and from Portland back to Portsmouth. Constantin nearly grounded us on the bar at Salcombe estuary, we encountered a pod of dolphins whilst sailing across Lyme Bay and we caught another mackerel in Poole Bay. The weather continued to be a mixed bag and only on the very last day the British summer showed its best side.

This concludes a great long summer break. We will be back – stay tuned.
