Meanwhile it is the end of May 2020. After 8 weeks of lockdown we are finally allowed to go back on Polaris to do some urgent maintenance work. 9 weeks after the start of the lockdown we are out again for a day trip to Whitecliff Bay, Isle of White.

Man Over Board Drill (our first one in all that time – shame on us…)
In quite blustering weather we decided to do a short run out of Haslar into the Solent and try some Man Over Board (MOB) recovery techniques. For us, the MOB recovery has two three: firstly, locate the MOB casualty, set off an alarm and manoeuvre the boat in a position to be able to recover the casualty; secondly, bring the casualty back on board; and thirdly, give medical assistance to the casualty as required.
In this short video we show our attempts and successes in drilling phase 1 – single handedly. This means, despite the fact that we were 3 persons on board the person at the helm had to do all on their own. An important thing we were reminded the hard way was to attach a bucket to the fender in order to have a slightly more stable and realistic behaviour of he MOB dummy.
