66 | Sailing Arctic Norway: The Majestic Øksfjord Glacier – A Breathtaking Natural Wonder!

Join us on an unforgettable Arctic sailing adventure!

In this episode, we set sail from Skjervøy across the mighty Kvænangen Fjord into the breathtaking Jøkelfjord, home to Norway’s 9th largest glacier – Øksfjordjøkelen. Sadly, this massive shield glacier is melting at an alarming rate, and we witness firsthand the roaring waters cascading into Isfjorden – a stark reminder of climate change’s impact on our planet.

60 years ago, this glacier reached the sea… by 2100, 80% of Scandinavia’s ice could be gone! We take in the mind-blowing scenery while reflecting on this glacier’s future.

The journey doesn’t end there! On our way back to Skjervøy, we change plans due to weak winds and set course for Tromsø, where we welcome our Swiss friends of long, Nora & Thomas. Together, we head to Årøya, navigating tricky submerged rocks before enjoying a sauna session, a fishing competition, and an epic Swiss National Day celebration with cheese fondue and a bonfire on shore!
