Beaulieu River (A First Time)

Beaulieu – in the heart of the New Forrest After having visited the New Forest by land for a few times in the past, including the Beaulieu Boat Jumble, visiting Beaulieu has been on our list for a long time. Perhaps put off by some scary tales about the bar at the entrance of Beaulieu River we did not make an attempt to discover this jewel on the South Coast before. But what have we missed!

The entrance over the bar is pretty straight forward, aim for the yellow 3G-Sevenstar Yacht Transport special purpose buoy, take care of the considerable cross current, follow the leading line and continue between the red and green channel marks and give it some time either side of low water to cross the bar safely.

Bucker’s Hard Boatyard and Marina is a pretty spot with a helpful marina crew. Fancy more? Watch the video…

A Weekend We Did Not Go Out

Sometimes, there is just not the right weather to leave harbour. For example, this weekend… We picked up our new cockpit cushions which we got from Clipper Marine with an amazing discount of 60% (OK, with a bit of bargaining). Storm Freya was closing in on the British Isles with a vengeance. Loads of rain and wind and howling shrouds in the marina. However, Polaris is a cosy home even in such times.
